In Questies, the passage of time in the game world is actively tracked to enhance immersion and provide a consistent narrative framework. Time advances based on the events and actions taking place, with the AI making best estimates to match what’s happening in the story. This tracking adds depth to gameplay, ensuring that events unfold in a logical and immersive timeline.

Features of Time Tracking

  • Customizable Calendars: World creators can rename the months of the year to suit their setting. For example, a fantasy World might have months like Frostfall or Harvestmoon instead of January or October.
  • Narrative Integration: Time progression impacts both interpersonal and plot-related events. For instance, NPCs remember when they last interacted with a Player, and the AI GM uses this information to shape their responses. A merchant might comment, “It’s been weeks since I last saw you,” or a guild leader might reference time-sensitive progress on a mission.
  • Dynamic Event Timing: Time-sensitive events, like seasonal festivals, harvest cycles, or political movements, are informed by the tracked timeline, making the world feel alive and reactive to the flow of time.
