====== NPC Roles ======

The NPC Roles module in **Questies** gives [[create:start|World]] creators control over how NPCs behave and interact with [[:Players]] by defining custom instructions for the AI. These instructions guide the AI in depicting NPCs consistently and effectively, ensuring their actions align with the World’s rules and the creator’s vision.  

For example, a **shopkeeper** might have instructions to:

  * Greet Players warmly when approached.  
  * List items available for sale along with their prices in gold.  
  * Specify the rules for transactions, such as when payment is required or how items are handed over.
  * Allow negotiating prices.

These instructions can be tailored to any NPC role, from a barkeep sharing local gossip to a guild leader assigning quests or a healer offering their services. By defining these behaviors, World creators can ensure NPCs feel more immersive and meaningful in the game.  

==== Activation ====  

World creators set NPC roles and instructions during the World-building process. Players interact with these NPCs seamlessly during gameplay, and the AI follows the predefined behaviors and rules. Adjustments to NPC roles can be made at any time, allowing creators to refine or expand their NPCs' capabilities as the story evolves.  

This module enhances World-building by making NPCs feel distinct, reliable, and purpose-driven, helping to maintain immersion and improve the Player experience.
