====== Stories ====== A **Story** is a playable campaign within a **[[create:start|World]]**, similar to a Dungeons & Dragons or tabletop RPG campaign. To create a Story, you must either use a **custom World** or a **[[create:workshop|Workshop]] World** as its foundation. ==== Key Features of Stories ==== * **Single-player or Multiplayer** – Stories can be played **solo (default)** or with up to **4 [[players|Players]]**. * **Independent World Instances** – Each Story creates a **unique copy** of its World, so changes to the original World do not directly impact it. * **World Updates & Merging** – If the parent World (including Workshop Worlds) receives updates, a notice will appear with the option to **merge changes** into the Story. ==== Starting a Story ==== * Tap on a **[[create:workshop|Workshop]] World** or one of your **own custom Worlds**. * Press **Start Story**. * Select an **existing character** or create a **new one**. * Choose a **starting location** (must be a **Point** marked as a **Starting Location**). * Begin your adventure! ==== Accessing the World Editor ==== * The World Editor for a Story can be accessed in two ways: * From the **three-dot menu** on the Story card. * From the **right sidebar** in the **Settings tab** by clicking **Go to Editor**. ==== Memory & Context Management ==== Stories feature advanced **[[memory|Memory]] systems** to ensure long-term context retention and dynamic adaptation to Player interactions. This includes **rolling summarization, AI-assisted journal entries, and dynamic context management**, allowing Stories to support **hundreds of characters** while maintaining immersion. Stories provide an evolving, persistent experience, making them ideal for **long-term campaigns** with rich world-building.
